Question Rim Protection Question

To start off with, I have an E92, 328, love the car... finally got my rims. I am running 20x8.5 ET40 and 20x10 ET40, with 245/30 and 285/25. Here in lies my question.

The shop that I purchased from, Shoreline Motoring, was very helpful and bent over backwards to make sure I was happy, and I am. They set my tire pressure at the factory specification, for ride quality's sake. Here is my question, I have only had the wheels on the car for about a month, but I have already noticed a relatively small knick on the left from rim, right on the edge , obviously from a pot hole or something, not terribly noticeable, but I am anal and love my car. If I were to increase the tire pressure, would this help prevent such accidents, or is it just something I have to accept since I am running such a low profile tire?
