Winter tire setup questions

I'm about to get my 335i Coupe. I'd like to get some simple steel rims (17") with BMW wheel covers for the winter. Here are my questions:

1. Do i need the tire pressure sensors on a set of new steel rims. Can i use the car with the warning light on?

2. What size options can I go with? Will a 215/50/17 fit? Or do i have to stick with 225/45/17?

Thanks.

I've never seen any steel wheel that fits over the 335 brakes...i do not believe that they exist.

Very few 17" alloys clear either, but we do have some relatively inexpensive ones that fit with 205/50R17 or 225/45R17 :

Thank you for the reply.

Is the 215/50/17 a good size for a 335i coupe (sport package) mounted on a 17x7.5 rim? I'm thinking dunlops with the ASA jh3 wheels.

That size would work fine. You may also use 205/50R17 or 225/45R17.

Yes, that is the Sport Edition A7 and BMW caps can fit in those.

Unfortunately the BMW caps are now $6 each. Due to cost issues I can no longer provide them at no charge, sorry.

Went with the 215/50/17 Dunlop winter sport tires (non run flat with pressure monitors) on ASA JH3 rims. Looks quite good. Seems to handle ok but at little soft in corners on the highway.
