What are the odds - My son buys a used car clone to mine with my Vin+1

I was checking out the dealer's website where I bought my 2011 E91 a few weeks ago and found they had another one with similar miles (mine 1380, this one 1517) equipped exactly like mine and the VIN is +1 in sequence to mine and a virtual clone of mine. My son has been hearing me rave about my car for weeks, so he proceeds to buy this other car!

Both cars are:

2011 328iT
Blue water metallic, beige leather
Manual shift, manual seats
Value package, satellite radio, cold weather package
Owned by BMW and assigned to someone who only drove it less than 1600 miles in 2 years, and apparently ordered at the same time with identical specs.
Purchased at BMW dealer-only auctions by BMW of the Main Line of Bala Cynwyd, PA near Philly.
Both sold to father and son by the same salesman.

My VIN ends in 1, the son's VIN ends in 2. We will name my car Uno and his Dos. My car resides in New Rochelle, NY, his will go to Charlotte, NC. These two cars have to meet some day!

What are the odds? I don't know, but I am going to enjoy this story for a long time.

Were the 2 cars sold as new cars by the same dealer? Makes me think that the VINs might have been connected to the dealer order.

The two cars were probably ordered by BMW, the original owner, at the same time and identically equipped for use in their corporate fleet in the US.

Why those two cars were only used for less than 1600 miles each in two years is a mystery. Were they display cars in a lobby or were they assigned to two employees who lived very close to the office? Or did the employees travel or have access to other cars that they preferred, like an M3 or M5? The cars were not eligible for CPO warranties as they are listed as "Demos" in the CPO database. Mine does not have any signs of wear on it at all.

Both cars were purchased used by BMW of the Main Line from two different BMW auctions for BMW dealers only. The sales rep told me that the dealership has purchased cars like this at BMW auctions before and they like it. The cars bought at BMW auctions come with completely clean representations to the dealer about their use and history, i.e. no accidents, major repairs, major defects, or any abuse.

Here are pics of the son's car. It certainly is a twin to mine. He picked it up on Friday and loves it.
