Engine shut off while driving please help!!

Last night I was driving down the rd about 45mph when I felt a jar and all of the sudden the engine shuts off! The lights are on while I'm still rolling..lucky I was able to coast to the next side street and pull over. I was thankful I was not on the expressway...but I'm really upset. I literally just bought my 2008 328i 2 days ago!! I called the dealership and they picked it up this morning. I love the car but I feel like this is a really omen. Any ideas on what's going on guys?

On a side note the "service engine soon" light came in after the incident.

Just read an article stating there will be a recall on 3series from '07 - '11 model yrs for this very reason. Says it could cause the engine to stall. Notifications are set to go out beginning next month.

Well that's actually isn't bad news. I get the car back Monday and I'm a little worried about driving it especially any lengthy distance. Hopefully the recall will go out and the problem will be fixed for good. Thank you for the info
