speedo way off
I got a e90 328i as a loaner car from the dealer today. On my way home, I get on the highway and get up to what I feel is my normal highway speed, just a bit under 80 mph. I look down at my speedometer and it's telling me I'm doing 90! It sure didn't feel or look like 90, because the cars around me were more or less doing the same speed. So I went and found one of those automated radar things that tells you your speed in residential areas. I drove by with my speedo saying 40, and the radar thing tells me 32.
Since this was a loaner and not my car, I don't care about fixing it. I was just curious if this is normal for e92s? My e46 is usually pretty accurate, and I've heard BMWs of the past almost always underestimated the speed (i.e. going 60, speedo says 55). This is the first time I've ever seen/heard of a BMW overestimating the speed. |

BMWs typically have enthusiastic speedometers but that seems a bit far off. The radar gun you drove by may have not been calibrated properly.
