Question Climate Control Buttons Keep Getting Stuck

Help! I just purchased a 2009 328i coupe and the climate control buttons keep getting stuck in the "pushed in" position. I can't get them to release. I don't know what the previous owner did to it, but now I have both defrost buttons stuck in and I can't use my AC because the defrost heat turns on since they're pushed in. How do I get them out? Hints? Tips? Quick fix?! THANKS!

sometimes the back of these buttons wear out, you can buy a new set of buttons for like $100-$150 depending on the options list. try removing them and seeing if the backs are all dirty and gunked up or if they are indeed worn out.
if you need help with new buttons let me know,
Patrick
