New Roof Racks

While you can get the base racks, the bike rails are still not here yet. Unless you import from Norway.... Full Whispbar setup. If only BMW OEM looked this nice and were this quiet.

Update on Whispbars Roof Racks on E91

After 1 year with the Whisbar roof racks the rubber feet are distorted and do not fit the car. Gaps of up to 1/4" or more. Adding to wind noise. Was instructed to adjust width of bar (but this looks to be a quality issue of the rubber compound). Now the adjustment screw will no longer work. Had sent photos to Yakima about 6 months ago. Very disturbing responses and at this point out of warranty (a year a and a few days). Also the rubber inserts on the top of the rails are now distorted. Add to that the idea that I should have to put tape over areas on the bar to help cut noise (per Yakima support) Had enough.

The guys at RackAttack in Denver (where I bought them) have been very helpful and tried to assist with Yakima. In the end I ordered the Fixed Point mounts from Thule and their aero bars. I already have Thule bike racks from a different car. RackAttack helped me out with a discount for my pain.

This is my experience and I hope you have a different one but I for one am done with Yakima. An expensive lesson. Hope this helps someone else out.

If anyone is interested in the Euro Whisbar bike roof carriers (fork mount) let me know. Think they only work on Whispbar. They do work just fine and come on and off very quick.
