xenon headlights in the e90

I noticed a lot of the 2009 to 2011 do not have xenon headlights. A vast majority have halogen lights. Were they not common to have the HIDs?

Also, do any of these have powerfold mirrors or were those only available in the later years?

Xenons have been an option on the E46 and E90 models for years. They are expensive and not widely ordered for dealer inventory.

The power fold mirrors are not on my car, but they are on cars which have two buttons below the mirror positioning toggle on the driver's door. I suspect that option is part of the premium package, which my car does not have.

I know this is off the subject, but I have rear "fog" lights. I have a button under the fog lights for the rear which basically is a brighter tail light for foggy conditions. I don't know what package this would have been part off, but was told it is very rare for mine.

I'm assuming that you're in the US. If you're not then none of this may apply to you.

US market cars were shipped with no rear fog light switch. The wiring and bulbs are in every car but the switch was omitted for the North American market. The only thing you need to make the rear fog lights work is a European spec switch. There are several websites that sell these. Installation takes all of 5 minutes. It was one of the first things I did to mine. I've used it twice in the past year but for some reason I like knowing that it's there. (My gf just shook her head and walked away when I told her that reason)

Since you say your car had the switch already installed, it leads me to believe that the previous owner may have installed it.

Don't ever turn on that rear fog light unless it's absolutely necessary (as in you can't see 5 feet in front of you). It's a huge pet peeve of mine to see other people driving around with them on for no reason other than "oh look here's a switch I'm gonna turn it on"

Word. I refuse to use mine unless there's an absolute need...
