what to expect at a bmw service appointment

so I just (let me re-phrase that) my wife just upgraded from our e46 Wagon to a E91 M sport. WE LOVE IT......

any ways, we noticed that the service check comes back as needing service. so having 29k miles on it, I will be making a appointment at the local BMW stealership.

I went in there once and spoke to a service advisor regarding a issue I needed addressed with my e46. for some reason I left there feeling like basically he was telling me if I don't have a newer BMW and not willing to pay a lot of money, I don't belong there.

is why I dove into DIY and have been dealer free since.

now I need to take the E91 for service. im told its free till 50k miles.
but what is the norm?
make apt., drop off car, and just pick up with no fee's at all?
or is it free workmanship but I pay for parts (oil and filter)?

If it's still covered under warranty, everything should be free. Make appointment, drop off car, and pick it up later with no fees. Sometimes they'll even give you a loaner car.

I am dropping my car off (335i) on weds due to rough running in the morning(fuel injectors...) I am covered under the CPO warranty... so I questioned the steps to be taken with the girl on the phone...

She said come in, drop it off, take a loaner, come back when its done a few days later... seems easy... we will see on weds...

This has been my experience and haven't had issues at all... I know some people hate dealerships but I have had worse luck with other shops which made me return to the dealership I go to because I actually trust them.

I bought a car from a dealership in Alabama.... 335i to be exact with 60,000 miles.

this car was advertised with a CPO until jan 2015. This car was a manufacturer buyback. (Fuel Pump)

I checked the warranty with BMW NA before buying... Yes it has a warranty until Jan 2015 they tell me.... Fine... I buy the car... BMW will repair any issues.

I receive the car... shipped to CT from AL... has a check engine light on... FINE... I bought a car with a CPO Warranty... I'll get it fixed... under warranty!

I double check the warranty with both dealership and BMW NA and bring in the car.

On my ride home I get a call from a service advisor... "We are going to have to pull your CPO Warranty"....

So I won't stand for that... I bought the car w/warranty.. the dealership i bought the car bought the car FROM BMW with a warranty... I bought the car from the dealership who bought the car from BMW with a warranty!!

I call BMW NA and verify my VIN they state it still has a warranty until Jan 2015... sweet.. I tell them what is happening with the dealership not honoring the warranty.... the guy then comes back and says... I am sorry there is nothing we can do there is no warranty on the car anymore...

WAIT... SO 15 MIN AGO I HAD A WARRANTY AND NOW I NO LONGER HAVE ONE!!?!??!? Transfer me now... Next guy can't tell me when the car was bought back.... can't tell me when the warranty was cancelled... this guy can't tell me the color of the sky...

So now I am stuck with my balls in my hand... no warranty... and a car that runs horrible in the cold after a long night of sitting...

I know this is fuel injectors... and I can DIY, but its the principle...

Please tell me your thoughts... I am going to attack both BMW and the Dealer but the date of the CPO retraction makes all the difference...

That is weird... I bought my 335i about 6 months ago from private party with the Warranty and took it in to the dealership. They cleaned my turbos, replaced spark plugs and did new injectors all around along with a plethora of other things. I paid the initial $50 fee and all else was covered under warranty. Try even took my cam shaft out and cleaned it up as well making sure my engine was in tip top shape. I love my dealership.
