malfunction
yeah my 325 wont start around every five times i try to cause it says its got a "steering wheel lock malfunction" or somethin stupid like that, but im takin it to my dealer tomorow and im sure they'll be able to fix it. Its been hapening ever since i took it to butler tire to get my rims put on and they screwed around with the computer cause it kept reading that i had low tire pressure.
im sure they can fix it though

I have heard of problems with the Tire pressure indicator on the run flats. My friend has this problem on an early e90 sedan, and I recently test drove a new 335Ci and had it going off. I thought this was a common problem/annoyance.

Never had a problem with loaner cars. Where I live the BMW dealer (Herrin-Gear) is about the only dealer to offer loaner cars and it's always a BMW (3eries, X3 or X5). Outstanding service - I know it's fashionable on these boards to knock the dealerships, but let me recommend these people. Herrin-Gear BMW, Jackson MS. I'm not related, I don't own shares, but they are truly outstanding.

Same here, had to have software install for entry-activated seat and mirror memories. My air-bag warning light is on too, as well as the seat-belt warning, even though I am definitely wearing the seatbelt. Apparently this is caused by a bad sensor, which the dealership has on order. Minor stuff, but disappointing considering that I have had the car for one week and have covered less than 600 miles in that time.
I still love the car, let's hope I won't continue to have to visit the dealership every two or three days though!

Sunglasses
Anyone else have problems reading the radio display with sunglasses on?
In my test drive of the 335Ci, I wasn't able to see the display at all with the glasses on (polarization effect). Sounds ticky-tacky, but damn was it annoying to be wearing expensive sunglasses and driving a $50k+ car and not be able to figure out what station you are listening to. Otherwise, it was a fantastic drive. |

Finally sadly but traded the 2001 E46 323i for a 2007 E90 328i hopefully its quality is a lot better than the previous 3-Series it replaced. It ended its life with a "Check Engine light" and found out cylinder misfire problems kept on coming up and never had engine problems ever since we got the spark plugs changed and maintenance II done. BMW claims that the quality is a lot better on the new E90 and hopefully there right or else this is the last beamer I own.
I wish all E90's came with standard equipment such as: - Xeon Headlights - Comfort Access - 17' or bigger sportier wheels Are there really any engine changes between the 2006 325i and 2007 328i I would like to know the technical updates and revisions they made to the newly updated engine and if any new features have been added. Hopefully all the major bugs are cleared out on the 2007 models I hate owning cars the first year they come out. |

What’s sad is that the service manager at Classic BMW in Dallas, TX was so frustrated with all the problems this vehicle had he suggested to us to get a new E90 and to even give us a really good deal since our ownership experience was so unpleasant. Not even one service advisor wanted to help or dare look up the history of service on this vehicle the service manager looked at it he said it would be almost like long as a book since there were so many problems with the vehicle it wasn’t even funny.

The 16' alloy 325i sedan wheels are so ugly IMO even the 2007 Coupe rims and old E46 Rims (on my 2001 beamer) looks better than the ones I have now. The LEXUS IS250, Acura TSX, and Infiniti G35 have bigger and better wheels standard.

I had one of the very first E46 323i back in 1998, and I never had any problems with it... Ditto my current E46 325i.

As for the difference between the E90 325 and 328, they are basically identical, just tuning (ECU, intake).

I want my car back
OK, I'm starting to get just a little pissed off. I've had the car for nine weeks. For eight of those weeks I've been driving around with the air-bag/seatbelt warning light on. It's taken that long for the dealership to get the replacement sensor. I took my car to them a week ago to get that taken care of at last, but a week later it is still not ready. The TCU needs to be replaced, apparently as part of a recall. But the dealership has to order the part from BMW. The part has still not arrived. You spend $42k on a car, you don't really want to have it sitting at the dealership 20% of the time.
Yes, I have a loaner, so the inconvenience is minimal (see separate post) but I want MY car!!!! Just venting......

Finally got my car back. Was without it for two weeks whilst the dealer fixed air-bag and TCU issues. Those problems surfaced six days after I took delivery of the car, with less than 500 miles on it! All fixed now, but annoying. Shouldn't happen.

Same thing keeps happening to my sister's car ('06 325i) and they are currently ordering the replacement part that is located somewhere within the seat. Apparently the sensor mat that monitors the passenger weight sensor for the passenger airbag and passenger seat belt are wired together, so if one screws up the other one probably will too. The dealership here has the replacement on order and is going to replace it under warranty.
SO far that's the only this that seems to be wrong between my sister and mom's cars. They have E90/E91s, but neither has a Nav system in it so I can't relate to some of the software problems others are mentioning. |
