Remote lock/unlock range - a bit short?

My remote range seems to be a little on the short side. The farthest from the car that I've had it work successfully is maybe 25 ft. But I've also had times when it wont work until as close as 5 ft. I almost always keep the key in the slot in the dash as to charge it. And even after long road trips it isnt juiced up enough to extend the range. Is this normal? Any way to extend the range?

Seems to be status quo - mine is also pretty short - amazing how close you have to be compared to anything else I have had.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one. Thanks for the replies, folks.
