M3 drive off assistent

I just brought an E92 M3 home. I was surprised to find it has "drive off assistant" that is, the car will hold itself on a hill for a few seconds rather than roll back. It works well but if I wanted the car to drive itself I would buy a Lexus. Do the other E9x manual trans cars have this? Can it be shut off?

It just feel weird, you expect the car to roll and it doesn't, just doesn't feel right.

Why not just get an automatic and save the hassel of a clutch?

Hmm...driving to San Francisco often makes that features nice. Sure, I could use the clutch but it is a pain.

i'm sure it will just take some getting used to like anything else, but it kinda takes the fun outta it. I mean, what will they come up with next? Transmissions that shift themselves????
