Hi Taylor,
I highly recommend the Predator ICE upgrade. This is an LED based module that swaps out your OEM halogen version for a brighter pure white light output. The install is a direct plug and play replacement and does not require modification of any OEM parts. Here is the link to the product page and pictures for more info: Predator ICE for E90 Sedan ![]() ![]()

First you have an e90 correct? I ask because the e92's is an H8 bulb to change not those that u find on e-bay.
The best on the market for the e90's are the predator ice as Nick showed you above. The other are the LUX 5.0 whcih are made by a member of E90Post.com and retail for a bit more $$, look at the pics they have there and make the decision for yourself

No you will need to replace the whole headlight assembly, at this time there is no angel eye that you can add to a halogen housing.

Is there a product that allows the E90 angel eyes to light up with the interior lights and door handle LEDs when unlocking the car (or when approaching vehicle for Comfort Access equipped) like the E46 angel eyes?

HID halos fo M3
Quote:
I must say, these kick butt! If anything, the inner rings are a little too bright. I installed the kit marketed by camaro305ss described here: Camaross305's HID angel eye kit - M3 Forum 2008 BMW M3 2007 BMW M3 BMW E90 M3 E92. I was a little nervous about a "home built" kit. Most of the kit is a manufactured HID one by Xentec. You can pick your color temperature -- the box lists 3k to 30k. I was going to match the stock 4,300, but decided to go with 6k. The home built part is some circuitry that, frankly, could be more professionally presented. It's a small circuit board and parts which have been wrapped in electrical tape, but not sealed. You install it in the right light housing so it is safe from water. Camaro's instructions (text & photos) in the link leave something to be desired, as well. I'd say the project requires a medium level of automotive electrical experience, definitely not something for the complete novice. My biggest frustration was getting the new HID lamps in the sockets. One went in easily, the other refused. I finally got out my Dremel Mototool and cut down one tab that was bigger than the stock ones, and it went in fine. The installation seems confusing, but is quite straightforward once you understand it. The end result in the engine compartment is quite low key and clean. It was snowing out when I was installing and when I got them turned on they lit up the driveway's half-inch of snow with very bright light (fourth photo). They are 35W, same as stock, but put out a whole lot more of white light. Xenon is a form of HID; compared to halogen, they put out at least twice the lumens per watt, plus don't have to have a blue-tinted capsule (loss of light) to be white. There is no lamp out error message, as the kit includes resistors to simulate a load on the stock wiring. The new lights are run through a relay directly off the battery power connection in the engine compartment. They will stay at full output in parking light and headlight mode, as well as DRL mode. Anyhow, I'm pleased so far. We'll see if they function correctly and hold up after I can drive. The headlights are not on in any of these pics. The inner rings are so bright they light up the cornering light reflectors.

"Angel eyes" (halos) design analysis
I've looked more closely at BMW's design of the halo lighting system for the M3. The reason the inner rings are lit much more brightly than the outers is they receive light directly from the H8 bulb via a reflector. The cornering lights set in front of these bulbs, but there is a lot of room for light to pass through. In additon, the cornering light assembly has holes which allow this light into that center lens.
In contrast, the outer rings receive light optic "light pipes" with only two small aperatures to access the H8 bulb through its reflector. It doesn't stand a chance of being as bright as the inner rings by design. The solution to somewhat equalize them in this HID case would be to interrupt some of the direct light with a metal baffle of some sort right behind the cornering light reflector. The danger might be trapping too much heat. Also, I think, due to limited access, this might be almost impossible to do without removing and disassembling the light unit. I do think the inners are a little too bright with the HIDs. Hmmm, what to do...
