Who is on line to get the new M3 or 1 series

I wonder who has already reserved an M3. For track sessions lover will the 1 series turbo be a better choice?

I was about to put my name on the list for a 135i, but I may back out and go to an E90 335xi.

I think both will be great track cars, and both will have different handling characteristics giving them both pros and cons. That being said, the new M3 is really getting great reviews for track handling.

I was leaning towards a 335 coupe or an M3, but the 135 might change my mind. I really need to see the 1er in person and test drive it before I can make a choice.

I'm in line for a 08/09 M3, but am seriously thinking about saving $20K and getting a 335i coupe w/ sport pkg and 6MT. With the fantastic tuning packages being offered by Vishnu and Active Autowerke, I could probably outperform the M3 (esp. in everyday driving where torque is more important than horsepower) while saving lots of money on purchase price and insurance...

I was leaning towards the 1er because of the cost savings, but next to the M3 it just doesn't look as great.

I always wanted the M3 but as 'attorneyscott' is mentioning the cost savings of the 335 w/ tuning is hard to pass on if I was going to get an E92 chassis over the 135.....Ahhhh the choices!!!

I think it will come down to seeing/driving the 1er in person...but then maybe I should wait and see/drive the M3 I don't know.

I went ahead and did it

I ordered the 335i coupe, 6MT, black sapphire over saddle, sport & premium. I've talked to Sami at Active Autowerke and plan on ordering the chip, exhaust, and BOV once my car arrives. I checked the owner's circle today and my car is now "scheduled for production."

This is saving me 20 grand, not to mention the bucks I'll save on insurance. Plus, I'll have a car that in all likelihood is faster than the new M3!!
