335i engine overheats???

Hey guys, I am new to this forum. I have a 335i coupe on order and I just read in the Bimmer magazine where Dinan claims that the 335i TT engine overheats rather quickly. Its recommended temperature of operation is around 200F, but it easily overshoots this mark to 230F with a little bit of agressive driving. He also claims that a few quick laps around the track can push this figure close to 300F where the chances of an engine lockdown are very probable. Have anyone of you experienced this?

There were problems with the early auto versions that were missing the oil cooler but that has since been resolved for all new productions.

I drive my 335i rather agressively on the street and have not been concerned in the slightest about the car running too hot. I am not too worried personally.

Thanks man... I appreciate it. Mine is a manual so I dont think that should be an issue anymore, but I have heard that the performance of this car is better than the E46 M3. Are those claims true? I had a brief test drive in late 2006, and it felt a little inertial at start up.

I've driven mine from Trier to Ramstein Germany at 120+ (for the 40 minutes it took me to get there ), and my temp never went over 250. I hit speeds up to the limiter ... 150. Ambient temp was about 75 deg F. I do wonder what it will do when I get to AZ, but the again you can't drive that fast in AZ.

I live in FL and my temp usually stays around 220 in my 6MT. That is alittle aggressive, but mostly stop and go. Temps usually around 85+ & humid.

I do have to add though that I am VERY disappointed with the MPG in this thing... My C5 Vette got close to 30 MPG.... This gets 20.2- 20.4 so far. That is pretty sad seeing as my week does fluctuate from close driving to distance (40+ miles) in a week. I figured I should be in the mid line of the 19-29 mpg estimate....
