Question about Angel Eyes on my new E90 335i

I have had my new 335i sedan for a week now, received it exactly 2 months from the day I ordered it. It has i-drive/Nav. I am still learning about all the things that can be adjusted to my taste via the i-drive.

However, I was wondering if it is possible to run the Angel Eyes by themselves, not with the parking lights or low beams on at the same moment. ???

I saw a 328 coupe on the freeway some time back and I thought I saw it driving with just the Angel Eyes on, maybe as daytime running lights possibly.

Anybody have any ideas?

You are correct, the E92's Corona light rings (aka angel eyes) act as daytime running lights. The E90 does not use its Corona light rings as DRL. I do not know of any way to turn on the light rings only on the sedan. Sorry.

I want the "only angel eyes on" mod! Shouldn't be too difficult to do, me thinks... definitely need brighter lamps to power it though...

Anyone have any updates on this? I really wanna have the angel eyes on without having to turn on the parking lights, or running the DRL's (I've noticed that the Halos are lit when the DRLs are on)

Exactly, sambonator. I guess that's a workable alternative, but ideally I would have the ability to control my halo rings through the I-Drive settings (my DRL lights).

I also wish I didn't have those ugly orange turn signals - nasty.

$50 or less solution.....vinyl cover.

They come in many colors..........even carbon fiber.

PIAA has a white LED solution for the angel eyes that also advertises using them as DRL. This was for the E90. I ordered some, I'll post my findings later. I don't expect to see them until mid September.

anyone else out there have any info on this? Is there a way to have the angel eyes running without the parking lamps? Just picked up an 07' 335i sedan with navi, so i've turned off DRL, but the only way to get the halos on is to turn on the parking lamps manually.

TIA

It is entirely possible, you do have to do the CDM tho. I'm wondering however, if it's a programmable option because in Europe they come standard like that.

Question

What about having the Angel Eye Corona Rings light up with the LEDs under the door handles when unlocking (Or light up during approach for Comfort Access equipped vehicles)? I asked the dealership but they said that it "does not light up" when unlocking, but I was pretty sure I saw a 335i rings light up with the LEDs under the door handles when unlocking...
