Help --> Question about 335 Insurance

Hey,

Can those of you who have upgraded from a e46 M3 or 330 to an e90/92 335 please let me know what happened w/respect to insurance. For the e46 330 owners, how much has it gone up??? For the e46 M3 owners, has it gone up, down, or stayed about the same?

Also, (and this is probably a noobie question), is there much of a difference between a vert and a coupe?

I currently have a 330ci (coupe) and am planning to buy a 335 vert while I wait for the e92 M3 to come out. Wondering what is going to happen to insurance.

Thanks much in advance!!!!!

A.

I went from an e46 325i to an e90 330i, and my insurance increased by the grand total of $5 per year. I know this wasn't exactly what you were asking, but I was expecting to have to pay more and was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully you will be too. I think insurance is always quite a bit higher on a convertible though, because of the increased potential for personal injury in a serious accident.

No. I haven't asked my insurance agent yet. Mostly b/c I wanted to see what other (w/different insurance companies) were getting. I was hoping to use that as a bargaining chip for negotiating my insurance rate. But your point is well taken.

B.M. ... In your experience, how much more for a vert as compared to a similar coupe (e.g., 330 or M3 coupe vs. 330 or M3 vert)? I suspected that the vert would add some to the premium, but am trying to figure out just how much (as well as how much of a premium I can expect for the turbos on the 335 vs. my current 330).

I will contact my agent and will post that info on the board for everyone's benefit. In the meantime, however, if anyone has any more info or can answer my original question I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alex

You should also try going on Progressive and see what they come up with. Unfortunately everyone's circumstance is different in terms of how they are rated. For example someone could have gotten a massive speeding ticket just before buying their E90/92, which would probably change their rates. So I would try to pit the insurance companies against each other using rates that you were quote personally. I hope that makes sense.

I am an insurance broker and let me tell you that the onnly change in premium will come from the change in body from an e46 to an e90 or e92 mostley because of the cost of repairs for these new bodies were there is no on hand supplie of replacement parts at the time. Once the 2nd year of production comes along you will see a decrese in your insurance. When the the new E92 M3 comes out then that will be a diffrent story mostly because of the performance factor of the car and the ISO symbol issued to that vehicle and the cost of the vehicle. If you Notice prices from e46 to e90 are releatively simalure. hope taht answers your question.

I traded an 05 M3 for an 07 335i, my insurance went up 10 dollars for the 6 month period. I was told that's because of the new body style and the fact that it's "new" period.
