1st. The system is working like it should if the it alerted you and one of the tires is at 24 PSI.
2d. Any time you fill a tire with air (even if it's slight to counter ambient temperature changes, you have to reset the TPM system. See the owner's manual.
3d. The pressure for your tires depends on what tire is installed, if you have the sports package, and for those German drivers, how much and if you ever exceed 100 MPH. The chart is near the back of, you guessed it, your owner's manual.
Finally, the TPM sensor is mounted to the inside of the wheel, so I doubt a stone hit it. Pull the wheel off and inspect it. You probably have a nail or screw stuck in it.
